We proudly support Wreaths Across America

CARLISLE, Pa. (Nov. 1, 2023)- Organic Remedies, a medical marijuana cultivation and research organization based in south central Pennsylvania, is proudly supporting Wreaths Across America during a 6-week fundraising campaign to sponsor wreaths for veterans’ graves at three national military cemeteries in Pennsylvania. In 2022, Organic Remedies raised funds to sponsor more than 2,700 wreaths at Indiantown Gap National Cemetery. As a Wreaths Across America corporate sponsor, Organic Remedies’ goal this year is to sponsor 4000 wreaths.

Wreaths Across America

Wreaths Across America, a non-profit organization founded in 2007, supports more than 3,700 locations in all 50 states, Puerto Rico, and on foreign soil. Its mission is to remember fallen U.S. veterans, honor those who serve and teach children the value of freedom. More than two million volunteers work throughout the year to raise funds and coordinate wreaths in the hopes that every veteran laid to rest across the country is remembered for their sacrifice for our country.

“Our team is passionate and actively engaged in raising funds to support this worthy cause. We truly believe that no veteran should ever be forgotten,” said Organic Remedies CEO Mark Toigo. “We’re proud to be a part of this tribute to all who have served our country, and we look forward to participating in the emotional wreath-laying ceremony in December.”

The company will raise funds through a grassroots campaign, including emails and calls to donors. Cash donations will also be collected at the company’s six Pennsylvania dispensaries in Chambersburg, Enola, Paoli, N. Pittsburgh, S. Pittsburgh, and York. In addition, Organic Remedies is contributing a portion of the proceeds of select OR products, available in medical marijuana dispensaries across the state, to support the sponsorship of WAA wreaths.

The campaign will support wreaths for Indiantown Gap National Cemetery, Philadelphia National Cemetery and National Cemetery of the Alleghenies. Organic Remedies volunteers will participate in memorial ceremonies at each of these cemeteries, helping place wreaths on the graves of thousands of military service members who have given the ultimate sacrifice for their country.

National Wreaths Across America day is designated as Saturday, Dec. 16, 2023 at 12:00 p.m. Volunteers will gather at national and state military cemeteries across the U.S. to honor the fallen. Live wreaths will be placed at each grave. The fallen hero’s name will be stated aloud in a moment of remembrance. The public is invited to attend all ceremonies held across the country.

We’re Lighting the Sky Pink for our Annual “Take Your Top Off for Breast Cancer” Awareness Campaign

Our Fourth Annual Breast Cancer Campaign Supports the Important Work of the Pennsylvania Breast Cancer Coalition.

CARLISLE, Pa. (Sept. 28, 2023)- Organic Remedies, a medical marijuana cultivation and research organization based in south central Pennsylvania, is proud to again support the Pennsylvania Breast Cancer Coalition. PBCC is a local nonprofit that supports and serves Pennsylvania’s breast cancer survivors and their families through educational programming, legislative advocacy, and breast cancer research grants.

We can make a difference - breast cancer awareness

In recognition of the work that still needs to be done to eradicate breast cancer, Organic Remedies is removing the covers from the LED lights at its medical marijuana greenhouse in Carlisle, PA, to light the sky pink. This spectacular phenomenon will take place for one hour each Sunday evening in October. As the greenhouse covers are removed, the night sky will glow a vibrant pink for approximately a 50-mile radius. While the facility property is restricted to the public, many will be able to see this impressive display throughout the surrounding area.

“Breast cancer affects thousands of women and their families across Pennsylvania each year. We want to do our part to support women currently battling breast cancer and celebrate the heroic survivors who have won the fight,” said Mark Toigo, CEO, Organic Remedies. “Lighting the sky pink throughout the month not only demonstrates our commitment to this worthy cause, but also brings awareness to all who see this vivid display and will hopefully help us raise more funds to support women with breast cancer.”

During the month, Organic Remedies is offering select products to patients with a portion of the proceeds going to benefit PBCC. Donation jars will also be available for patients to give a cash donation to support PBCC. Patients can pick up free educational information and resources about breast cancer in the company’s six dispensaries.

“We exist to help the 14,000 women in Pennsylvania who will be diagnosed with breast cancer this year, to support the families of the 2,200 women who will lose that battle and to serve as a resource for the hundreds of thousands more women currently living with the disease. Our mission is to find a cure for breast cancer now…so our daughters don’t have to,” said Daniele Kockler, Community Outreach Coordinator, PA Breast Cancer Coalition. “We are delighted to work with Organic Remedies again this year to raise funds to help breast cancer survivors and their families. Thank you, Organic Remedies.”

Greenhouse Glow

Organic Remedies will also collect donations of women’s and men’s clothing, jewelry, purses, and scarves, for local nonprofit Pink Hands of Hope. Pink Hands of Hope operates a thrift store in Mechanicsburg, PA., and works hand in hand with PBCC to provide wigs, caps, clothing, shawls, knitted knockers, port pillows and many other items available at no cost. Collection boxes will be provided on Oct. 20, 2023 from 4:00pm to 7:00pm at outdoor pop-up tents at each dispensary.

Cancer is one of 24 qualifying conditions approved by the PA Department of Health for medical marijuana therapy. Many women undergoing breast cancer treatment are finding relief through products available at Organic Remedies. For more information on medical marijuana therapies for those battling breast cancer, expert pharmacists are available for free consultations at Organic Remedies dispensary locations.

Organic Remedies becomes the first carbon free PA medical marijuana organization

Partnering with Carbonfund, Organic Remedies has been certified a net-zero carbon emissions company.

We are proud to announce that we have officially been certified carbon neutral by Carbonfund’s Carbonfree Certification Program. Organic Remedies becomes the Commonwealth’s first in the industry to be certified carbon free. Carbonfund is leading the fight against climate change, helping individuals, businesses, and organizations to reduce and offset their climate impact. Through its rigorous assessment, Carbonfund determined Organic Remedies generates 1626.5 tonnes of CO2e which will be offset through global forestry projects.

Certified Net Zero Carbon

“Organic Remedies is proud to become the first in the state to be certified carbon neutral in our industry. As one of the leading medical marijuana organizations in PA, we understand our responsibility is to not only produce quality products, but also to do so in a way that does not harm the environment. We have always cultivated our plants through natural, organic farming practices. Offsetting our carbon emissions is another step we are taking to reduce the strain on the environment and protect our planet for generations to come. We are strongly committed to our sustainability initiatives and focused on responsible consumption and production,” said Organic Remedies CEO Mark Toigo.

Organic farming practices have been utilized since the facility opened in 2020. These practices include collecting and reusing rainwater so there is no runoff; capturing CO2 from its boiler and reintroducing the CO2 to enhance the plants; integrated pest management using bio-control pests; planting thousands of trees surrounding the property. As part of Organic Remedies conservation efforts, it also uses efficient LED lighting systems to reduce power consumption.

“Our name tells the story. We are Organic Remedies, and we strive to maintain organic farming practices during every phase of cultivation and manufacturing of our products. Protecting our planet Earth is important to our patients, to our employees, and for the benefit of future generations,” said Toigo.

New Product Line Through Exclusive Partnership with Former Steelers Linebacker Ryan Shazier

Partnering with former Steelers linebacker and NFL Pro Bowler Ryan Shazier, Organic Remedies has introduced the product line to help patients improve their quality of life by managing pain, anxiety, and depression.

Shazier’s miraculous journey after undergoing spinal stabilization surgery two days after being injured while making a tackle during the Dec. 4, 2017, game at the Cincinnati Bengals is well-known among Steelers fans, and indeed throughout the NFL community. What many may not know is that Shazier benefitted from the use of medical marijuana as he worked to regain his mobility following his injury. Shazier said his unique brand of medical marijuana products will help others succeed in achieving their wellness goals.

“I was looking for a safe, natural alternative to opioid pain medications during my rehabilitation and recovery. Medical marijuana provided me with a restorative healing that allowed me to manage the pain through a difficult time in my life. I am thrilled to be working with Organic Remedies to cultivate and produce affordable, premium medical marijuana strains that have been selected specifically to help patients live their best life,” said Shazier.

The Steel City Greats Ryan Shazier brand is initially introducing four premium strains of dry leaf flower, including Shazier #50, Shalieve, Walking Miracle, and Speed available in 3.5g. Going forward, additional manufactured products will be added to the product line, including vape cartridges, topicals, and capsules.

“Organic Remedies is honored to partner with Ryan on launching this exciting brand to Pennsylvania patients. Together, we are working to help more patients with serious illnesses live a better quality of life and experience the restorative healing of medical marijuana. Ryan’s story is one of triumph. He is a true champion in so many ways, and we are delighted to help our patients achieve their own victories throughout their personal wellness journey,” said Organic Remedies President Eric Hauser.

Ryan Shazier - Steel City Greats Product Line

In 2020, Shazier founded the Ryan Shazier Fund for Spinal Rehabilitation to support others going through similar injuries. Shazier says a portion of the proceeds from the sale of the Shazier brand products will be contributed to the fund.
